The Douglasville Police K-9 unit is mourning the loss of their beloved K-9 Officer, Recon. Recon lost his battle with cancer after seven years of serving the community. Recon was trained in both patrol functions as well as narcotics detection. Throughout his career, K-9 Recon was responsible for numerous felony apprehensions and a multitude of narcotics seizures. He was first handled by Ofc. Brett Butler during 2011. From 2011-2016, Recon was handled by Ofc. Chris Johnson where he worked patrol and later assigned to the F.I.N.D Unit. From 2016-2017, Recon was handled by Ofc. Justin Manwaring on the F.I.N.D Unit. K-9 Recon will always be remembered as a loyal and faithful partner. We are thankful for his service to our community and will not forget him.
