William Brown “Bill” Alderson, 81, retired employee of Goodyear Tire & Rubber and resident of Santa Fe, died Friday, May 31, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born February 15, 1938, in Maury County, he was the son of the late William James Alderson and the late Martha Shelby Alderson. He was a graduate of Santa Fe High School Class of 1957. Mr. Alderson served in the United States Army for two years. After retiring from Goodyear Tire & Rubber after 32 years, Mr. Alderson was a manager over the tire department at the Maury County CO-OP for 10 years, and also worked for the Santa Fe Postal Service for 10 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, boxing, wrestling, and fishing. When his children were younger, he also enjoyed coaching softball and teaching Sunday school. On September 11, 1961, he married Doris Davis Alderson, and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Davis Alderson; daughters, Diane Alderson (David) Carpenter, Denise Alderson (Terry) Thompson; son William David (Sandy) Alderson; grandchildren, T.J. (Kalee) Thompson, W. Shelby Carpenter, Emily K. Thompson, Spencer D. Carpenter; great granddaughter, Chandler Lillian Thompson; sister, Mary Jane Alderson (Ricky) Holcomb; brother, Jack Thomas Alderson; sister-in-law, Annie Louise Ragan; brother-in-law, James C. (Juanita) Davis; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Edward Alderson.

Active pallbearers will include Terry Thompson, David Carpenter, T.J. Thompson, W. Shelby Carpenter, Spencer Carpenter, and Ricky Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class at Northside Baptist, Santa Fe School Class of 1957, Carol Connell, Lisa Patrick, Cecil Baker, Kathleen Rogers, and Edna Parrish.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Home Health Services, Dr. Gaylon Harris & staff, and Dr. Lucy Ledbetter & staff.
