Mr. Jack Thomas Alderson, age 83, and a resident of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on January 1, 1940, in Shady Grove, Tennessee, Jack was the son of the late William James Alderson and the late Martha Elizabeth Shelby Alderson. He was a graduate of Santa Fe High School. On December 12, 1966 in Ringgold, Georgia, he married Linda Elizabeth Townsend, who preceded him in death in 2017. He retired from Union Carbide after 27 years of service. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and car racing. He was a member of West 7th Church of Christ in Columbia.
Jack is survived by his children, Kimberly Lynn (Brian) Hopkins and Kevin Thomas Alderson, sister, Mary Jane (Ricky) Holcomb, grandchildren, Amanda (Robbie) Sanders, Taylor Hopkins, Thomas (Kaitlin) Hopkins, Jessica (Danny) Quirk, great grandchild, Josephine Quirk.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Edward Alderson and William "Bill" Alderson, and his beloved Chihuahua, Harley, of 20 years.
A private graveside service will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 at 2:00PM with Rick Points officiating at Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 12:00PM - 1:30PM.
Pallbearers will be Brian Hopkins, Taylor Hopkins, Thomas Hopkins, Robbie Sanders, Ricky Holcomb and David Alderson.
