He married Minnie Pearl Hunter on Nov. 15, 1954, in Laredo. She died Jan. 13, 1969. They moved to Spur from Laredo in 1960.
He was a member of the Aircraft Owner's and Pilots Association. He served as a naval instructor in Bryan during World War II. He was a crop duster from 1945 to 1979.
Survivors include three sons, George Jr. of Shallowater, Roy A. Long of Richman and George Milony of Mission; three daughters, Clara Ann Webb and Evelyn M. Dement, both of Lubbock, and Barbara Jean Mathewson of Mission; a sister, Evelyn Blinkenbery of Watsonville, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
