Mrs. George Mathewson, Sr. Spur, was killed Monday night shortly after 6 p.m. as result of a car-pickup crash on Highway 70 between Dickens and Spur. She was declared dead at the scene.
Sawnie Norris, also of Spur, was the driver of the pickup involved. He received a broken leg and is in fair condition at a Lubbock hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mathewson were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the First Methodist Church. Rev. Howard Marcom officiating, assisted by Rev. Dennis Bennett pastor of Bethel Baptist church.
Mrs. Matthewson had been a resident of Spur since 1961. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, spur; one son, Charles Stoutt, Ft. Worth; one step son, George Mathewson, Jr. Spur; two step daughters, Mrs. Clara Ann Webb of Spur; Mrs. Evelyn Marie Bilberry of Lawton, OK; one sister, Mrs. Mollie Woods, Ft. Worth.
