Rev. Chalmer Abrams, age 83, of Clear Creek, WV, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Myrtle Webb Abrams and by a brother, Charles Abrams.

Rev. Abrams served in the US Army in the Rangers Division, serving two tours in Europe and in the United States. He was a mine foreman for Madison Coal Company and Kessler Coal. He served in the coal industry for many years. Rev. Abrams graduated from Duke University in COS Studies and was a pastor for the United Methodist organization, preaching the Gospel in many churches in Beckley and surrounding areas.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce Walker Abrams; sons, Carlos (Denise) of Midway, Rodney (Tammy) of Fairdale, Larry of Clear Creek, and Dale (Kate) of Fairdale; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jacob Abrams, Savannah Abrams Sears, Keeley, Haden, and Trenton Sears, Sawyer and Grayson Abrams, and Ashley Walker; one sister, Delores (Allen) Williams of Princeton, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 PM Friday, June 7, 2019 at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with Elders Thomas and Jamie Newman officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Everett Walker, R. J. Sears, Anthony Crookshanks, Ethan Williams, Devon O'meara and Dale Abrams.
