Ernest Lawrence Bonell was born December 6, 1936 in Aberdeen, Washington. His parents were Ernest Stanislaus Bonell (January 12, 1912-February 7, 1970) and Doris Eileen (LaShance) Bonell (July 16, 1916-March 28, 1991).

On August 18, 1956 he married Sharon Ann Louderback at the Saron Lutheran Church in Hoquiam, Washington.

Together they had four sons, Larry Wayne Bonell born December 24, 1956, Scott Edward Bonell born March 28, 1962 - died August 17, 1985, Bradly Ernest Bonell born February 21, 1966, and Ronald Richard Bonell born October 10, 1969.

Ernie was employed by Grays Harbor Paper and worked there for 44 years until his retirement in 1999.

Ernest Lawrence Bonell was descended from a large family that came to the United states in 1850 from Staffordshire, England. The parents, James Bonell and Eliza (Swetman) Bonell landed in New York aboard the ship "George Washington" and soon traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Within a few years they moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin where several members of the family founded the Bonell and Sons Carriage Company. The business thrived and their craftsmanship was highly praised. Another of the sons, Frederick, became a well known photographer whose portrait work often shows up for sale on auction sites.

Ernie was a very kind man, a hard worker, and had a great sense of humor. He loved fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren at the lake house he and Sharon owned at Lake Nahwatzel in Mason County, Washington. To be a guest at their 4th of July celebrations at the lake was a delight.

Late in life Ernest Lawrence Bonell suffered an extended illness and passed this life on May 17, 2019. He was laid to rest beside his wife Sharon and near his son Scott in Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam, Grays Harbor County, Washington.

He leaves behind three sons, their spouses, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved him in life and continue to love him and the good memories he left behind.
