MAXINE HARRIS
FITTSTOWN — Services for Maxine Ellen "Nana" Harris, 74, Fittstown,
are 2 p.m. Saturday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Tony
Folger will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in
Stonewall.
Mrs. Harris died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at her home. She was born
Jan. 6, 1935, at Erick, Okla., to James Wesley and Laura Margaret
McSpiritt Snow.
She attended Frisco school and graduated from Stonewall High School.
Mrs. Harris worked at Wrangler, was a nurses' aide and later owned
and operated Panther Drive-In at Latta and Harris Quick-Stop at
Fittstown. Mrs. Harris reared several foster children.
She married Windell Lee Harris Sr. on Aug. 5, 1949, at Coalgate. He
died Dec. 27, 2004, at Fittstown.
Survivors include her children, Verna Mae "Tootie" Snell and husband
Steve, Fittstown, Windell "Butch" Harris and wife Helen, Fittstown,
Bill Harris and wife Kim, Fittstown, Vernon Harris and wife Carol,
Byng, Darrell Harris and wife Brenda, Fittstown, and Zachariah
Harris, Ada; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Nettie Britt, Benbrook, Texas, and Rosa Lea Hendricks, Ada; and many
nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter,
Sharon Kay Burris on Aug. 10, 1998, a great-grandson, Tyler
McCracken; two brothers, Forrest Snow and Bobby Snow, and two
sisters, Marcella Jackson and Almeda Garbaldi.
Bearers will be Leonard Daniel, Tom Daniel, Jerry Winters, Buddy
Johnson, Carl Tackett and Matt Robertson. Honorary bearers will be
her grandsons.
