Surrounded by his loving family, Harry passed away at Toledo Hospital on Tuesday, December 13, 2005. Harry was born at home on April 6, 1929, to Walter and Mary (Galka) Banachowski. A graduate of Woodward High School, Harry honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from the General Motors Powertrain Plant in 1993 after 36 years of dedicated service. Harry was a loving, devoted husband and father who will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Harry is survived by his loving wife, Carol "Mitzi" of 43 years; son, Thomas (Peggy) Banachowski of Erie, Michigan; daughters, Susan (William) Weber of Lambertville, Michigan, Janet (Gregory) Melms of Toledo, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Brittany, Bradley, Stephen, and Jeffrey Banachowski and Chloe Melms; and brothers, Chester (Nancy), Edward, and Andrew (Tonya) Banachowski. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Clement Church with Rev. Edward Littelmann officiating. Friends are invited to visit from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue (419) 472-7633 where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Clement School Endowment Fund or the Toledo Humane Society.
