She was born to Hoarce and Eva Baty. She was reared in Neches, Texas and went to Washington, D.C. after high school to work for the State Department. Most of her adult life was spent in Beaumont, Fredericksburg and Palestine, Texas. She enjoyed oil painting country landscapes and attending Memory Lane Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dorsett Johnson; sister, Leona Wearden; brothers, Charles and Lee Roy Baty.
She is survived by daughter, Sandra Mosley; son Ronald Fielder; sisters Mary McKelvey and Ida Baty; brothers, Harold and Sam Baty; seven grandchildren and numerous extended family.
