Television Personality, Actor. He was best known to television viewers as the popular prime-time host of classic films on the cable channel American Movie Classics during the 1980s and 1990s. Born Robert Paul Vierengel, he started out in the entertainment field at a young age and performed in various areas such as acting, stand-up comedy, the circus, magic, and jazz music. In 1984, he was recommended to host classic films on the newly-launched cable network American Movie Classics and continued to host over 10,000 films in prime-time for the next two decades before leaving the network in the early 21st Century. Besides hosting films on AMC, he also acted in such films and television series as "Remember WENN," "Ed," "Hollywood Ending" (2002), "The Last Confederate: The Story of Robert Adams" (2005), and "Mnemonica" (2009). He also performed in various local theatrical productions during his career.
