Emma F Patillo was born October 25, 1929 to the late Jim and Arlene Pattillo. She was one of thirteen siblings. She graduated from Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia. She was united in Holy matrimony to Albert James Gilmore on September 4, 1949. They resided in Chicago and Atlanta for most of her life. Her main job was as a homemaker for her husband and seven children. Although she did not work outside of the home in the early years, she assisted with the provision for her family by using her God given skills to develop into a home based entrepreneur. She made and sold a variety of products to her community.
