Thomas Jefferson Henkle was married on February 21, 1888, in Oregon, to Harriet (Hattie) Tryphenia Storment, daughter of Alexander Franklin and Martha Tryphenia Storment. She was born August 25, 1867, at Walterville, Lane County, Oregon. Thomas was born on the George Ross farm one and 1/2 miles west of Philomath, Oregon. His father, Andrew Jackson Henkle, who ran a Coopers Shop in partnership with Sidey Barnard (Sidi Hammett Bernard, Sr. husband of Anna Gragg King), traded the shop for the above farm. He established a hardware store with his brother in 1890 at Tekoa,Washington. He also became a local undertaker. After disposing of his business interest he moved to Newberg, Oregon, in about a year he returned to Moro, Sherman County, Oregon. After a few years he retired and established his home with his daughter in Portland.
