Mother love sought to answer the incessant calling of u lost baby from the spirit land Monday, when Mrs. Catherine Belcher, 32 years old, wife of Herbert D. Belcher, of Evergreen, attempted suicide by swallowing poison in a hotel at San Francisco, according to dispatches from that city. e It is said Mrs. Belcher was stricken with grief over the death of her baby boy, 2 months old. Sept. 22, 1925.
Prompt action by Mrs. Mary Lyon, of Edgewater, mother of Mrs. Belcher, who accompanied her on the trip to the coast, in administering an antidote before the arrival of the ambulance, is said to have saved the latter's life.
The baby is buried in Crown Hill cemetery. Mrs. Belcher, whose maiden name was Miss Catherine C. Lyon, is the mother of four other sons, the eldest 11 years old.
