She was born on April 2, 1922, to the late Mary Ellen Martin Amos and James Calvin Amos.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Eustace Hutchens; six brothers; four sisters; one grandson; one great-great-granddaughter; and one son-in-law.
She was of the Primitive Baptist Faith and was a member of the Moorefield Store Fire Department Auxillary, Virginia/North Carolina Homemakers Club, and was a 4-H leader.
Surviving are four daughters: Diane Gauldin of Axton, VA, Debbie Nowlin and husband Donnie, Joan Light and husband Gary, Susan Roundabush and husband Perry, all of the Moorefield Store Community, Spencer, VA; one son: Tommy Hutchens and wife Jane of Winchester, KY; foster son, Jimmy Wray of Bassett, VA; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Lena Amos; special friend, Marguerite Roundabush; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special dog, Mossy.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Norris Funeral Services in Stuart, VA, with Pastor Ed Hartman and Elder Laray Smith officiating.
Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Stuart, VA.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Norris Funeral Services Chapel and other times at the home of Debbie Nowlin, 1622 VA/NC Rd., Spencer, VA.
