Daniel is possibly buried in an unmarked grave.

On 12 August 1850, Zephaniah Davis testified before W. S. Tucker, Justice of the Peace, that Daniel Canfield died on the 8th day of March 1841 and "that his knowledge of the above fact grew out of his acting as the sexton of the church and yard where the said Canfield was buried and that he has examined his record and ascertained that day of his death was as above stated."
