John Brown, was born in Laxfield in Suffolk in 1842 the son of James Brown and his wife Hephzibah (nee Hill). In 1851 they were living in the village where his father worked as an agricultural labourer.

His mother had died by 1855 and in 1861 he was living in Farnham in Suffolk where he was apprenticed as a boot or shoe-maker.

He married Elizabeth Jane Town at All Saints in Maidstone on the 19th of May 1872.

In 1891 they were living in a cottage in Bagshot Road in Frimley where he was working as a gardener.

In 1901 they were living at 3 Western Villas in Gordon Road where he was working as a boot maker.

John died at his home in Camberley in December 1910. He was buried at Frimley on the 8th of December 1910. His wife died in 1931 and is buried in Section XV Grave B2
