Alberta McCoy was born to the late Ethel Mae Toliver. She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at the Mt. Olive M. B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Charlie Moore. After relocating to Fredericksburg, VA she continued her faithful service to God at the Church of Restoration Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Poole where she remained until her death.

Alberta never married, and although she never had any biological children of her own, Alberta spent her life raising her siblings, her nieces and nephews, and all the children of the Bragg Hill Community in Fredericksburg, VA.

Alberta was full of love and hospitality. She never met a stranger. She always opened her heart and home to anyone in need. Alberta also was the founder and owner of Alberta's Soul Food located in Bragg Hill in Fredericksburg, VA.
