Morning Herald Thursday, June 17, 1937
Anthony Valachovic, well known local resident, passed away yesterday morning about 8 at his home, 1 Miller street. He was 77 years of age. He suffered a stroke about twelve days ago and failed to recuperate.
Mr. Valachovic was born in Kuty, Chechoslovakia, in 1860. He came to this city about forty years ago and had resided here since.
He was a member of St. Anthony's church and the Holy Rosary society of the church. He was a popular Slovak resident and had a wide circle of friends who will mourn his passing.
Mr. Valachovic was a leather worker by trade and had been employed in the A. J. Baker Co, Inc. mill for a number of years until he was compelled to retire because of poor health.
The survivors are his widow, Mrs. Helen Sefcovic Valachovic; four daughters, Mrs. Justine Hesek, Mrs. Sophie Vach and Mrs. Mary Franko, Johnstown, and Mrs. Valeria Holoska, Schenectady: also eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 8:30 from the home and from St. Anthony's church at 9. A solemn high mass will be sung by Rev. Jobs Zadzora. Interment will be made in St. Anthony's cemetery.
