After a long and brilliant life LaFrance Grubbs left us on June 1, 2018. She passed peacefully in her sleep.

LaFrance was born on June 24, 1918 at Mrs. Nichols Maternity Home. She was the third daughter of John and Winnie Blanchet. LaFrance attended a one room school house in Coombs Canyon 1st thru 8th grade. She moved to town where she attended and graduated high school form St. Joseph’s Academy.

She met the love of her life at a dance and married James Oscar Grubbs on May 29, 1938. Together they had three daughters, Judy Kay Grubbs Pranger, Gaynell Grubbs Woodell and Rachelle Grubbs Doherty. LaFrance had 12 grandchildren , 19 ½ great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. She also has numerous nieces, nephews and unofficial children and grandchildren.

LaFrance had a long and very active career in the world of credit. She served locally, regionally and internationally with Credit Professionals International. She received many awards and some of the highest honors the organization has to give. LaFrance final retired from her 3rd career as Executive Director of Consumer Credit Counseling Service at the age of 85.

In 1987 she worked tirelessly for over a year with Rudy Rada on the Clocktower project.

In 1990 she was named First Citizen in Pendleton for all her work for the community.

LaFrance will always be remembered for her beauty, class, graciousness and love of family and friends.

LaFrance is survived by her daughters Judy Kay Pranger, Cornelius, Oregon; Gaynell Woodell, Merrill, Oregon and Rachelle Doherty, Pendleton Oregon and countless loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her husband Oscar Grubbs; parents John and Winnie Blanchet; 6 siblings Marguerite Sartin, Verlie French, Bobbie Futter, John Blanchet, Cressie Depew and Jim Blanchet.

The Rosary will be held Friday, June 8, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Burns Mortuary in Pendleton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Andrews Mission. Burial will follow at Olney Cemetery.
