Mrs. Biggers, 94, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Southminster Retirement Community where she had lived for 11 years. She was born May 25, 1911 in Mineral Springs, NC to the late Mamie and Rufus Godfrey.
Mrs. Biggers is survived by her husband of over 70 years, George Biggers, of Charlotte; daughter, Becky Cross and husband, John of Marion, NC; grandson, John M. Cross, Jr. and wife, Jennifer and their children George and Caroline all of Greensboro; granddaughter, Rebecca Canady and husband Britt and their children, McCall and Cross, all of Charlotte; sister, Bleeka Orr and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mrs. Biggers will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Myers Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. H. Stephen Shoemaker and Rev. Gary Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Heaton Hall. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Myers Park Baptist Church, 1900 Queens Rd., Charlotte, NC 28207 or Southminster Foundation, 8919 Park Rd. Charlotte, NC 28210 or The McDowell Foundation, P.O. Box 55 Marion, NC 28752.
