Mrs. Frances L. “Fran” (Bakner) Rotz, 95, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 in Paramount Nursing and Rehab, Fayetteville, PA.

Born July 14, 1924 in Quincy, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wilber and Mary E. (Cook) Bakner. She lived her early life in Quincy and Waynesboro.

She attended Quincy grade schools and Quincy High School.

She married William Samuel Peck June 27, 1942. He died in action in Europe in 1944. On July 2, 1948, she married Chester S. “Barney” Rotz in Hagerstown, MD. She and her husband lived on Orchard Rd., Waynesboro for many years before moving to their residence in 1990. Mr. Rotz died December 2, 2003.

She was employed in food service for 15 years with the South Mountain Restoration Center. Prior to that, she worked for her parents at Orchard Road Market, Waynesboro.

She was a member of Blue Rock U.B. Church, where she was past secretary of the Woman’s Bible Class.

Fran was a wonderful wife and mother who in her earlier years enjoyed motorcycle rides with her husband, Barney on his Honda Goldwing. She was kind, generous, considerate and humble. She loved her many trips to Indiana visiting with her daughter, Angela, her son-in-law, Loren and her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, William G. Peck and his wife, Lynn, Charlestown, WV; one daughter, Angela Bergren and her husband Loren, Fort Wayne, Indiana; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandson; 2 nephews and Donna Baer, Waynesboro, PA, who was like a daughter to her.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Bakner.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, PA, with Pastor Gregory Helman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Rd. Waynesboro, PA 17268 or to Blue Rock U.B. Church 7885 Mentzer Gap Rd. Waynesboro, PA 17268.
