Alice Hodge (nee Ward) was born on the 29th of March 1866 in London. It is believed she was the second daughter of Charles Ward and his wife Sarah (nee Morgan). In 1871 they were living in the St Pancras area of the town where her father was working as a Carman – or cart driver. Her father was a widower and it is believed she had a half-sister Elizabeth born in 1856. Her father later became a coachman.

In 1881 she was working as a servant in Kensington but ten years later was living with her parents in Chelsea where she was working as a dressmaker.

She married widower Richard Hodge at St Pancras in London on the 22nd of February 1904. They had one son, Richard Edward Lodge, who was born in St Giles in London in 1905.

In 1911 they were living in a house attached to the Wharfenden Estate in Frimley Green where Richard was a coachman.

Richard died 7th of October 1932. They were then living in The Cottage attached to a large house in Mytchett known as Mytchett Heath.

Alice lived at Fernleigh in Frimley Green Road in 1939 with her sister Elizabeth Ward (see Grave X6 XIII). Alice died on the 27th of April 1954 in Farnham Hospital. She was buried at Frimley on the 30th of April.
