Roy graduated from Wakefield High School in 1948. He served in the Navy March 1949 to March 1950 and was called back to service during the Korean conflict February 1952 to September 1953. He was a life member of the Michigan VFW Post 9084, American Legion and Eagles. He worked in construction (Operating Engineers Local 701-324) in Michigan, Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
Roy was married to Judith Pikka-Mustapaa, Dorothy Parvi and Ilona Falk — all who preceded him in death. He and Dorothy wintered in Arizona and were snowbirds for 15 years. He also travelled through 49 states as well as Canada and Mexico.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ted and daughters Linda Lawson and Jo Grantham. He is survived by his daughter Brenda Carr, of Longview, WA; daughter Lori DeWitt, of Springfield, OR; granddaughters Krystle Carr, of Ames, IA, and Amber (Oscar) Cabrera, of Longview, WA; granddaughter Tiffany Lawson, of Klamath Falls, OR; grandson Sean Lawson, of Oregon; sister Jane Lepisto, of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Community Home Health and Hospice staff (especially Nurse Mia) and A Senior Life Adult Family Home for their excellent care.
Roy will be laid to rest beside his parents at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, MI, on August 24 at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
