Sarah was my 3X gr. grandmother. I have searched for several years as to where she might have been buried. I do not know if she is buried in Harlan Cemetery. There has been no headstone found. Her son James Henry was buried in Harlan with his wife, but only her name appears on the headstone.

Sarah was the daughter of Dennis Barton and Mary/Molly (McCargar) Barton. The first census showing Sarah's name was taken in 1850 in Wapello, IA when she was 45 years old and her husband James was 55. They had three children still living at home James H., Milo H. and Edward W. She was found again in 1870 in Knox, IA at age 64 living with her husband and Irvin (Irving) Letner age 12, Irvin was most likely her grandson and son of Urainia (Adams) Letner. Relationshilp was not reported in earlier census. Irving is found in later census first in CO and then living in CA and married with two children. His ex-wife and both children have been found, but his date and place of death have not been found.

According to researchers she had one son John Quincey who was b. 1838 and d. 1847. All other children have been found and linked to her on FAG.

Urania Adams married William Letner FAG #202332790. See that memorial for more information on that part of the family.
