AUGUST 23, 1932 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2019

Velma Marlene Prewitt, 87, was born August 23, 1932 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She went home to be with her Jesus on September 1, 2019. She is predeceased by her mother, Alice Guillory Van Opstal; step-father, Henry Van Opstal; and father, Gordon P. Mann Sr.; and brother, Gordon P. Mann Jr.

Left to cherish her memory, is Walter Ray Prewitt, her husband of 22 years; daughters, Vickie Lynn Salley Thompson and Tonya Gail Mitchell with husband, Gordon; granddaughters, Allison Covington, Lisa Stone with husband Jason, Amy Jones with husband Adam, Lauren Hawthorne with husband Charlie; and six great grandchildren, Makinley, Jillian, Chloe, Clayton, Connor, and Audree.

Marlene loved her family and always enjoyed getting everyone together for meals and to spend time with them, especially during Christmas, her favorite time of year. She was a very giving person who had a big heart, giving what she could to whomever she could. She enjoyed cooking for her family and tending to her yard, growing the most beautiful flowers.

A Celebration of life for Mrs. Marlene will be held Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. before the service at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. An interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Bro. Steve Gilley will be officiating the services.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Life Care North for their care and love they showed Mrs. Marlene and special thanks to Dr. Timothy Nichols for his continuous care and being so much more than a doctor to her.
