Note: The maiden name, Batchelder, is from a fellow findagrave member #47616531 with sources as follows:

"William's marriage to Esther does not appear in Wenham vital records. However, various other records (including her headstone) confirm her first name. As for her maiden name, author John A. Schutz says she was Esther Batchelder (1668-1723), in his book Legislators of the Massachusetts General Court 1691-1780: A Biographical Dictionary, 1997, p.216.) Repeating that claim is the book New England Marriages Prior to 1700, p.257. There are no known records listing Elizabeth's maiden name as Gott, except that early Fairfield researcher Wynn Cowan Fairfield listed that surname as a POSSIBILITY. Please remove the maiden name and perhaps instead include a note on her memorial page that her maiden name was Batchelder based on the above records. Thank you. www.fairfieldfamily.com"
