Mrs Jane Lucy, widow of the late Samuel Lucy, died at her home near Taxahaw last Sunday, May 7, 1905, at the advanced age of 86 years. She had not been well since receiving a fall on the ice in the early part of the year. She was a member of the Baptist church and her remains were interred at Taxahaw Monday.
She leaves the following children surviving her: Mrs Mary Moore of Charlotte, NC, W. D. Lucy of Arkansas, Mrs F M Lowry, Mrs JP Ingram and Miss Roxy Lucy, all of the Taxahaw section.

A private with the Kershaw Volunteers in the Mexican War of 1846-1848 listed as Samuel J. Lucy from Chesterfield District was stated to have deserted in Georgia on Jan. 8, 1847. Per the Camden Journal newspaper dated April 12, 1848.
