Actor. Best known for the role of Tommy, a member of the Cobra Kai dojo in the 1984 box office hit, “The Karate Kid.” Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, his first film appearance was a minor role in the 1977 science fiction movie “Starship Invasions.” While studying theater at Ohio University, he was cast as a convict in Robert Redford’s 1980 film “Brubaker.” In 1984 he portrayed Tommy, a member of a rival dojo in “The Karate Kid.” The Cobra Kai members bullied Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio, who had recently moved to California. Pat Morita’s character Mr. Miyagi takes Daniel under his wings and trains him in karate. During the climatic karate competition scenes, Garrison utters the words that forever immortalized him to movie fans, “Get a body bag, yeah!” The line did not originally appear in the film but was dubbed in later. He reprised the role later in Season Two of the You Tube series “Cobra Kai.” The series followed the original characters as adults who have rival dojos. He also appeared in the 1986 box office films “Iron Eagle” and “The Karate Kid Part II.” He guest starred on multiple television series, most notably “St. Elsewhere,” “MacGyver,” “Columbo,” “Coach,” and “Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.”
