Daughter of Harry Winslow Thayer and Lena Richardson; later adopted by her stepfather, George Arents. She used Arents' surname as an adult.

Married first, Aquila Giles, 23 Feb 1923 (div. 1926). Married second, Julius de Konkoly Thege 31 May 1930, in Rye, NY. Dorothy died on their honeymoon. Julius committed suicide a month after her death.

Cause of death: accidental poisoning by bichloride of mercury.
