Gary Allen Constable, age 69, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born January 20, 1950 in Pittsfield, IL to Clarence and Edna Tittsworth Constable. He married Judy Howell on June 30, 1967 in Louisiana, MO, and she survives.
Gary retired from Pittsfield Township where he worked for over 28 years as a road maintenance operator. In his earlier years he worked in construction and for Milk Specialties in Pittsfield, IL and also worked for several Pike County farmers. Calvary Baptist Church of Pittsfield was Gary’s home church most of his adult life and he served as an usher for many years. Gary enjoyed walking and loved socializing with friends along the way. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and couldn’t pass up a John Wayne movie. Gary was amazing with his mechanic and carpentry skills.
Every Friday night was made special by Gary as he cooked for his family and enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids when they gathered at his home. He also enjoyed watching them in sports, or any activity he could share with them. He loved his family, protected them and they all loved him dearly. Gary loved being outdoors, from being at the river to sitting on his back porch watching the world go by. If he didn’t remember your name, he’d make one up for you!
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Judy and three children; Shelly (Mike) McKee of Pittsfield, IL, Angie (Terry) McEuen of Milton, IL and Scott (Amanda) Constable of New Salem, IL. Sisters; Freda Predmore of New Salem, IL and Pat Smith of Barry, IL. Brothers; Alfred “Peck” (Nancy) Constable of Barry, IL, Ron (Karen) Constable of Barry, IL and Tom Constable of Ursa, IL. Grandchildren; Ryan Smith, Dakota McKee, Kyle (Kiley) McEuen, Brent (Jennie) McEuen, Cole (Macey Sargent) McEuen, Carlee Constable, Ella Constable, Lanie Constable, Jason McKee, Cordell McKee and Sami Baker. Great-grandchildren; Faith Smith, Scarlett Smith, Kolt Lee McEuen, Jorgia McEuen and Adaline McEuen. Also surviving are multiple nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carolyn Ruble, brother Harold Constable and grandson Levi Tucker McEuen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Interment will follow at Greenpond Cemetery in Pearl, IL.
