Patty attended Pittsfield High School and then married Bill Smith on August 23, 1958. They moved to Quincy, IL where they started their family. Later, they moved back to Barry where she enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. She worked for a time at the K & E grocery store for the Bruennens. In the early 80's, she received her CNA license and went to work at the Barry Community Care Center where she worked for several years.
Patty loved flowers and working out in her garden. She canned from her garden and also loved to bake pies and would even share her recipes! She really made the best noodles. In later years, she hosted Wednesday night family dinners and each child had a favorite dish. The grandkids knew they could stop by to see her and get a soda. Her family was the joy of her life and she was the glue that held the family together. She was brutally honest, stubborn, and ornery, but most of all she was strong, loyal, and loved unconditionally.
Patty is survived by her son, David Smith of Barry, IL; her daughter, Chris (Kyle Estell) McConnell of Concord, IL; grandchildren, Troy (Alicia) Smith, Trevin Smith, Tanner Smith, Cole Smith, Carly (Traye) Labby, Collin Smith, Brent Smith, Matthew Smith, Kayce ( Austin) Cole, and Caitlin (John Pauch) Smith; great grandchildren, Mason, Brayden, Rylan, Braelyn, Bostyn, Madison, Nathan, Miranda, and one on the way; brothers, Ronald (Karen) Constable of Barry, IL, Alfred (Nancy) Constable of Barry, IL, and Tom Constable of Ursa, IL; sister, Freda Predmore of New Salem, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
