Fred Markolf, who was well known for many years among residents of Spring Grove and its vicinity, died at his home in Baltimore, Wednesday. Word of his death was received yesterday by his brother-in-law, Henry R. Stambaugh, South East street. Mr. Markolf was 76 years old. He had been a semi-invalid for a number of years. In the last quarter century he frequently visited in this vicinity. He was a retired mail carrier. Mr. Markolf had been married to Sarah Stambaugh, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eli Stambugh, of Paradise township. She died about 10 years ago. Mrs. Markolf was a sister of Henry R. Stambaugh. They had no children. The funeral was held today at the Markolf home in Baltimore. Burial was in the family plot in Druid Hill cemetery. A number of relatives and friends from this vicinity attended the funeral.
