ALBANY, N.Y. - Charles V. Abare, 69, of N. Manning Blvd., died at Albany Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in Port Henry, he lived in Albany for most of his life and in his most recent home for the past seven years. He was an Albany police officer for 29 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Teamsters Local 294 in Albany. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Parents - Charles Abare and Sarah Pickel Abare.
Daughters - Constance Lezette and Carol McIntyre, both of Albany, Dorothy Mae Joslin of Schenectady, Anne Marie Bowie of Edinburg, and Donna Marie Matthews of Rensselaer.

Sister - Jeannette Andres of Guilderland.
