Came to California with her parents in 1884. Married in 1886 to William J. Adams; they separated about 2 years after the marriage with Ethel's father paying a financial settlement so his son in law would leave. (Mr Adams, who formerly lived at the Adams Ranch in Murphys, recently died in SF after an illness of 2 months of typhoid. Citizen 7/2/1910) Proprietor of Table Mt. Ranch, one mile east of Murphys on Penn. Gulch Rd. Had surgery for a tumor, went on the cattle drive before her surgery was healed and died there. Her ranch hands brought her body back to Murphys and she was cremated with the cremains buried under a oak tree on her ranch. She left the ranch to her foreman Fred Kenney.

Owners of the land where her cremains were originally wanted them removed so cemetery donated a plot and they were buried there on 9/16/2019
