She was born on October 5, 1923, in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Louis and Clara (Ellermann) Herrmann. Vi was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1941. On October 13, 1951 she married Gerald E. Panosh at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1994. As a young woman, Vi was a telephone operator with the Bell Telephone Company and was later employed at Manitowoc City Hall and a local balloon store. Vi enjoyed teaching exercise class for nine years at the Manitowoc Senior Center as well as coordinating and teaching line dancing. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi and the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: James & Lynn Panosh, Naperville, Illinois, Richard & Dawn Panosh, Green Bay; and five grandchildren: Allison (Rob) Ridenour, Aaron & Jonathan Panosh and Daniel & Nicholas Panosh. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Vi was also preceded in death by three brothers: Paul, Ervin & Fred Herrmann and three sisters: Leona Newman, Martha Boehm and Agnes Hirte. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011. Friends may also call Friday morning at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
