AUTOIST INJURES BICYCLIST, KILLS SECOND NEXT DAY

Startled by the sound of an automobile horn from behind as he was riding his bicycle at Seventh and Clearfield Streets last night, Chester Bennett, 13 years old, of North Hutchinson street, jumped from the wheel directly in front of the approaching machine which struck and instantly killed him.

The driver of the automobile, Jacob Wannai, of 4721 A street, on Friday night was in a similar accident when he struck another youth on a bicycle, the latter receiving a fracture of the left leg and severe lacerations and contusions of the head and body.

When the accident occurred last night, Wannai was driving his machine slowly, northward on Seventh street. At Clearfield, the youthful cyclist turned into Seventh street in front of the auto. Wannai sounded his horn which seemed to bewilder the youth who jumped to one side, letting his wheel fall in the street. The auto, which Wannai had turned to the same side to which the youth jumped to avoid an accident, struck Bennett, fracturing his skull. He was pronounced dead at St. Luke's Hospital.

The youth Wannai struck on Friday night was Frederick Schultz, 18 yeras old, of 8020 West Venango street, who is in the Samaritan Hospital. This accident happened at Ninth street and Rising Sun lane.

Wannai surrendered to police, given a hearing, and the police declared both accidents were accidental.
