Son of James Luther Watkins (1872-20 May 1941) and Zula Bell Myers (28 Sep 1878 - 12 Jul 1926). He was hit by a jitney / public bus about 7:45 am in downtown Birmingham. He was reportedly crossing near First Avenue and Sixth Street during a time of much traffic and stepped out from behind a vegetable wagon and was hit by the jitney. It was ruled to be an unavoidable accident. Charlie fell onto the street and sustained a skull fracture. He was taken by ambulance to the Baptist Hospital but he died before arriving.
