Zella Mae was the daughter of Clay Dickson Williams and Angeline Nickless. She married John Francis Manzenberger (1891-1964) in Bedford on 30 Jun 1909 and was the mother to six children. She died in her Bedford home, at 1926 12th Street, of pneumonia and was buried next to her father-in-law, John Manzenberger (1861-1908), in Green Hill Cemetery.
