A son of Benedict and Barbra Mollett, he lived his entire life in Champaign, Illinois. His father, a Union soldier, was killed during the Civil War. He married Bertha "Birda" Smith on October 4, 1910 and, with the exception of one year, the couple lived at 109 W. Columbia, Champaign. They had no children At the time of his death, he was the olderst licensed pharmacist in Champaign, holding licence #57. He began his career at age 19, at W.S. Maxwell Drug Store. Later the store was Maxwell and Mollet. He owned a second store, Mollet and Bellan Drug Store. When this partnership was dissolved, he started a new business which was destroyed by the fire that burned the Meis Dry Goods Store. He formed a partnership in 1911 with Emil Woller, Mollet and Woller Drugs, and remained in business at 11 Main Street until his retirement in 1921. The business was still listed in the 1935 City Directory as being located at 34 Chester Street, Champaign, Illinois. An active Free Mason, he was a member of Western Star Lodge No. 240 A.F. and A.M.
