Amy Hall-West entered into heavenly eternal rest on July 7, 2019 at the age of 49, following a brief battle with colon cancer. Amy was born in Memphis, TN and lived in New York City for 4 ½ years. She also lived for 6 months in Holly Springs, MS, however, the majority of her life was spent in New Orleans, which she considered home. Amy attended Crescent City Baptist School and was a graduate of Lutheran High School. She attended both Southeastern University and Delgado Community College. During her 6-month stay in Holly Springs, Amy was voted the "Freshest Freshman" by the students and faculty of Marshall Academy. A dog-lover at heart, Amy owned and operated "It's a Dog's Life," a cage-free animal boarding service in New Orleans and "A Lil' Lagniappe," a dog walking/sitting service in New York City. She will be best remembered for her advocacy related to human rights, the ethical treatment of children and animal protection.
Amy is survived by her parents, Patricia "Patty" West and Carden "Sonny" West; brother, Jason West; God-child and nephew, Christian West; nephew, Hayden West; niece, Heather West Mayeux; great-niece, Ellie Mayeux; aunt, Pam Mattingly (Mike); and cousin, Kristina Odenwald. She is also survived by Lisa "My Niece'e" Colletti, whom Amy, from a very young age, looked up to, loved and adored like a second mother. She was predeceased by her father, Daniel Woodard "Woody" Hall; brother, David West; grandparents, Marjorie Swinney, Archie Melvin, Sina West, Carden L. West, Christine Hall, and Malon Hall. Although she had no children, her dogs, Brooklyn, Abigail and Couillion, were like children to her.
Friends and family are invited to attend the services at the Vineyard Church of New Orleans, 4340 Sal Lentini Blvd, Kenner, LA, on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 7:00 pm. Visitation, starting at 6:00 pm, precedes the service.
