Hernando. Mississippi - RAYMOND A. "Dad" ARMSTRONG, JR., Father of 4, "Dad" to ALL. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 16, with visitation Sunday from 6-8 p.m., both will be at Forest Hill South with the Rev. Bobby Dampier officiating. Interment will follow in the Love Cemetery in Hernando MS. Mr. Armstrong was born in Tipton County, Tennessee, March 5, 1924 to the union of Raymond Sr. and Polly Jones Armstrong and died Wednesday July 11, 2007 at his residence in Hebert LA. He was a retired Supervisor with J & L Steel Company and also a truck driver. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the army where he earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a past Commander of the VFW Southaven, MS, a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph P. Armstrong of Drummonds TN; and his granddaughter, Penny Pike. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Holland Armstrong of Hernando; his sons, Stephen R. Armstrong of Hernando, Paul A. Armstrong of Arkabutla MS, Raymond Aiken Armstrong of Monroe LA; his daughter, Carolyn Murray of Memphis, TN; his brother, Albert Armstrong of Mountain View, AR; his sisters, Robbie Herrington of Bay Springs, MS, and Johnnie Simmons of Memphis, TN; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
