Professional Football Player. For twelve seasons (1972 to 1983), he played at the linebacker position in the National Football League with the Cincinnati Bengals. born James Michael LeClair, he attended South Saint Paul High School, where he played football and was on the wrestling team. He split his collegiate years between the University of Minnesota (Crookston) and North Dakota. While with the later, he was named conference Most Valuable Player. Selected by the Cincinnati Bengals during the 3rd round of the 1972 NFL Draft, he totaled 158 career regular season games. LeClair distinguished himself when he achieved Pro-Bowl honors in 1976. He experienced an American Football Conference title with Cincinnati in 1981. He extended his professional career an attritional two seasons with the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League from 1984 to 1985. After retiring, he served as football head coach at Mayville State University and later was the proprietor of an insurance agency. He was inducted into the National College Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
