James Allen Carter, age 91 of Gallatin, passed away Monday, November 11, 2019. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 12th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, November 13th from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Military Honors. Honoring Mr. Carter as pallbearers are Mike McDonald, Justin McDonald, Bill Thornton, Randy Moore, Tyler Hill, and Logan Hill. Honorary pallbearers are the “Morning Crew” at Gallatin Civic Center.

Mr. Carter was born August 12, 1928 in Bethpage to the late George Carter and Emma Sullivan Carter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, George Carter, Harry Carter, Barny Carter, and Paul Carter, Jr.; and sisters, Oma Dell Troutt, Katie Lowery, and Rosie Ferguson. He is survived by wife of 65 years, Josephine Dillehay Carter of Gallatin; daughters, Rebecca Perry (Barry) of Gallatin and Sheila Capley of Gallatin; 2 grandchildren, Ashley Perry Clark (John) and Melissa Capley; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Carter served our country in the United States Navy serving on the USS Basilone DDE 824. He retired from G. F. after over 30 years of service.
