ROWLAND--MRS. MELVINA, age 95, died Tuesday afternoon at the residence, 1811 N. Chamberlain Ave. She was the widow of Elijah Rowland and had been a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She is survived by two sons, E.J. Rowland, Chattanooga, and Will Rowland, Bridgeport, Ala.; one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Barger of Chattanooga; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 o'clock Thursday morning from the chapel of the Cosmopolitan Funeral Home with the Revs. John Ford, Ollie Linkous and John Brown officiating. Another service will be held at 1 p.m. (CST) from the Harmony Grove Church in Bridgeport, Ala. Interment will be in Bonna Ventura Cemetery, Bridgeport. Pallbearers will be the following grandsons; Horace Rowland, Lou G. Barnes, Paul Barnes, R.V. Barnes, V.L. Stevens and Ray Stevens. The body is at the funeral home. Arrangements by Cosmopolitan Funeral Home.
