Ernest Arrowood, age 86, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Erwin Health Care Center. Ernest is a native of Black Mountain, NC and a son of the late John Henry and Mattie L. Cooper Arrowood. He was of the Church of God faith and worked for CSX in the bridge crew department. Mr. Arrowood enjoyed fishing and enjoyed gardening. In addition to his parents, Ernest is preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Arrowood, sisters, Bessy Thomason, Pearl Flower, Carrie Arrowood, brothers Richard Arrowood, Burt Arrowood, Ray Arrowood, and Samuel Arrowood.
Ernest Arrowood has left behind to cherish his memory:
Daughter: Tammy Hensley and husband, Mike of Erwin;
Sons: Randy Arrowood of Erwin,
Rick Arrowood and wife Sherry, of Erwin;
Grandchildren: Adam Hensley, Megan Arrowood, April Ousley, Chris Arrowood, Mindy Sparks, and Matt Arrowood;
Several great-grandchildren;
Sister: Helen Davis;
Several nieces and nephews.

Reverend Bobby Flowers and Reverend Chuck Shipley will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until 7:00 PM on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Jones Cemetery. Those who wish to attend will meet at 10:30 AM on Saturday to go in procession to Jones Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Mike Ousley, Adam Hensley, Phil Allen, Terry McInturff, and Mike Hensley.
