Jean Alderson, age 74, of Ruthton, Minnesota died unexpectedly on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, Minnesota.

Jean Alderson was born on July 24, 1945 to John and Martha (Neiman) Kelly in Hendricks, Minnesota. She was baptized on September 9, 1945. She grew up working on the family farm near Verdi, Minnesota. She attended school in Verdi, graduating from high school there. She was united in marriage to Richard Halsne in 1963 and this marriage was blessed with four children. Through the coming years she helped on the farm and raised the children. In 1983, she began working at the Good Samaritan Village and worked there for over 23 years. On January 16, 1985, she was united in marriage to Bill Alderson in Brookings, South Dakota and the two families were joined together. They enjoyed dancing, camping, and snowmobiling. Jean and Bill enjoyed going south and spending time with their friends in Texas during the winter months, and even purchased a permanent residence there last year. Jean passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, Minnesota at the age of 74 years, three months, and 18 days.

Jean was a member of the ladies’ aide and taught Sunday school at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Following her marriage to Bill, Jean became a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. She loved spending time with friends and family. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, cooking, and baking. She loved attending her grandchildren’s events; they brought her so much joy! Jean and Bill were inseparable – if you saw one, you saw the other. Jean was the glue that held the large family together. You could always count on Jean. When Jean was ready to go she would always say, “We’re out of here!”

Jean is lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 35 years, Bill of Ruthton; seven children, Randy (Judy) Halsne of Joliet, Illinois, Dave Halsne of Holland, Minnesota, Lori Halsne of Luverne, Minnesota, Scott (significant other, Dawn Johnson) Alderson of Holland, Brenda Kellen of Pipestone, Todd (Jenny) Alderson of Lake Benton, and Shelly Gylling of Holland; one brother, Pat (Joann Eldridge) Kelly of Minnesota, 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other loving friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Emory Kelly and David Kelly; one son, Dale Halsne; nephew, Michael Kelly; and one grandson, Justin Halsne.
