David "Mark" Murphy, 66, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away in his home surrounded by family on November, 25, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mark was the son of Lt. Col. James Barber Murphy, USAF, (Ret.) and Marjorie Reed Murphy. He was born at the Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, Illinois on June 7, 1953, the eldest of three boys. As part of a military family, he grew up in various locations such as Alabama; Laon, France; Sumter, South Carolina; and Virginia Beach, Virginia. His family settled in Durango, Colorado in 1970 where Mark graduated from Durango High School in 1971. He went on to earn a degree in Microbiology at Colorado State University, Fort Collins in 1974.

Mark and his wife of forty-two years, Helen Patricia "Pat" Lindsay, married and settled in Fort Collins in 1977. There they raised four children. Mark launched a professional painting business in Fort Collins and turned it into a lifelong career. He had a very deep faith and his family was actively involved in the church. Mid-life brought a twelve year adventure in Maryland where he satisfied his passion for boats, building and finishing his creations with a master's touch. Colorado drew Mark and his wife back to retire in Colorado Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Barber and Marjorie Reed Murphy; brother, Ted Reed Murphy; grandparents, Martin Jennings and Aurora Barber Murphy, and Theodore and Josephine Koenig Reed.

Mark is survived by his wife; his brother, Dan (Teresa) Murphy of Castle Rock; his four children, Nathan (Sarah) Murphy, Katie (Caleb) Lambert, Amanda (Chris) Wu, and Laura (Paul) Spies; and eleven grandchildren, Emmett, Malia, Ezekiel, Silas, Vera, Liberty, Hannah, Zachery, Peyton, Owen and Teagan.
