Owner of a Farm that was destoyed during the Battle of Gettysburg, July 1st 1863. He was a farm owner with a large barn and brick house that was a part of the first days action on July 1st 1863. The Farm was burned by confederate soldiers after an attack by members of the 20th New York State Militia. After the battle, a spring located on the farm was determined to have “healing style” and quality water and Emanuel started the Katysaline Spring and Gettysburg Bottling Works. The Springs Hoel was built nearby becoming one the towns first and largest hotels after the Battle of Gettysburg. Emanuel moves to New York and was a member of the Freemasons.
