Ernestine Hautau was born 26 Jul 1846 in Schamberg Lippe, Germany, to father Ernst Hautau and unknown mother, both German born. She was the wife of Frederick Hautau. On 20 Jul 1935, she died in Berwyn, Cook Co., IL. On 22 July 1935, she was buried at Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park, Cook Co., IL (IL Deaths, FS).

An individual Passenger card states on 26 Jun 1871, female, Ernstine Hautau, 25; plus August, baby. 7 mo; Caroline, 16 and Friedr., 27 arrived in the port in Baltimore, MD, on the Berlin (vessel name). Their nationality was Lippe, and their last permanent residence was in Sulbec. T-20-2-65 (FS).

1871: Farmer Friedr. Hautau, 27; Ernstine Hautau, 25; baby August Hautau, 7 (blank, maybe months), Caroline Hautau, 16, all immigrated to Baltimore, MD from Lippe, Germany. Their last legal residence was in Sulbeck. They are listed individually on a Baltimore Passenger List, 1820-1948 (FS).

On the 1900 Precinct 28, West Town Chicago, Ward 10, Cook Co., IL census, I found factoryhand, Fred Hautaw, 56, born May 1844, Germany born; wife of 32 years, Ernstine Hautaw, 55, born Jul 1845 in Germany, had 8 kids, 4 living; and daughter Emma Hautaw, 20, May 1880, IL born. In 1870, Fred and Ernstine immigrated here and he naturalized.

On the 1930 Berwyn, Cook Co., IL census, I found Paul H Borneman, 63; wife Mathilda Borneman, 55 (both born in Illinois) and mother in law Ernestine Hautan, 83 (born abt 1847), born in Germany.
